It’s who I am. I’m an artist. I’m not just a rapper. Lol. I’m an artist in every aspect. So expect the unexpected from me but yes, that is my career goal. I live for art-Rizz
The above quote is a excerpt from my interview with up & coming artist from Atlanta Rizz Capolatti. We discuss his EP entitled “The Dealings of Mr. Cartier”,inspirations,Draft Pick Family, and much much more. Read the entire interview after the jump. Enjoy.
Yoh: First off i wanna thank you for taking the time for the interview. For our readers who are unfamiliar with you,and your music give us a little introduction.
Rizz: Oh man, its my pleasure! I go by the name of Rizz Capolatti. I’m 18 years young & an underground artist from Atlanta, GA mane.
Yoh:Being an underground artist in Atlanta, who would you consider some of your biggest inspirations that have come from the south?
Rizz:Good question…GREAT question. You will be able to hear I’m very influenced by Andre 3000. I’m also an OLD Wayne-head. I also gain inspiration from the entire Dungeon Family. & TIP. Curren$y’s loyalty to building his empire with his set is major inspiration too.
Yoh:I like that line up,especially Dungeon Family. More up and coming southern artist should check out their music. Now you have a project coming soon, tell us about that?

Rizz
Rizz:Ummm. I have an EP coming late September – early October titled “The Dealings of Mr. Cartier”. This project is me (Rizz Capolatti) role playing as an alias I’ve created for myself name Falant Cartier. Falant Cartier is truly just gentleman that comes from Southwest Atlanta, like me, who has attained great wealth through his dealings with the corporate & street world. He uses his wealth to do things he’s never imagined such as living is expensive suites for weeks at a time or treating women to a splendid time & as precious jewels lol. Elegant with Street savoir-faire. Lol
Yoh:This sounds like the audio version of the Great Gatsby haha.. So will it be alot of braggadocious rhymes, or is the story of Falant Cartier alot deeper?
Rizz: Thanks man. Umm. I don’t even know what artists have been doing as of late lol but man every project I do has a bigger picture to it. They all are made with creativity & I’ve been honing my sound for this for a while since I’m personally fascinated by the idea. But every project I have will be creative like this EP.
Yoh: So even though your pretty young man,it seems you decided on being a artist as a career goal. Am I wrong?
Rizz:You’re absolutely correct. It’s who I am. I’m an artist. I’m not just a rapper. Lol. I’m an artist in every aspect. So expect the unexpected from me but yes, that is my career goal. I live for art.
Yoh:I feel that! I think the game needs more artist and less rappers. With that said are you worried about not getting love from radio in Atlanta since you dont make the music that gets currently played?

Rizz 1
Rizz:I’m not worried about that. I’m just tryna do me & share my art with the people that can appreciate it. That’s all.
Yoh:I can dig that.Your aligned with up coming artist Levi, how big of a influence is he on you and your music?
Rizz:Umm.. Before anything, that’s my big bro. That nigga is really family. But he has chopped game with me about a lot & our perspectives on a lot is the same. He also shares a lot of wisdom with me that I may not know & vice versa. As an artist, it’s just like everybody else, it’s inspiration to get better.
Yoh:Well I asked that because the quality of music your circle makes isn’t quite like alot of music coming out of Atlanta presently. The overall sound is just different which is something to pride yourselves on.
Rizz:Yeaaa mann like from the time we started all doing this Draft Pick Family thing together, we’ve just supported each as individuals. Like before the music, we all just click! So we feel comfortable being ourselves around each other & in our music. We’re just really doing our thing which is beautiful because we all have our own unique sound but it comes together fantastically. & we truly are a family. This aint no fake shit lol
Yoh:Lol thats real! I always wondered where does the name Draft Pick Family come from?
Rizz:Lol. Ummm… LeVi is the one that came up wit Draft Pick. He was sayin that before he even met me. Me & LeVi met when we were 15. A friend introduced us towards the end of 9th grade & we were in the same class the whole school year lol. He was heavy on beats & I was rapping solo but he told me he rapped too. I spit for him & he was vibin. He spit for me & I was like “damn” I needa step this shit up. Lol. Later that day, we talked were discussing what the name of our set would be. He already had “Draft Pick” in mind. I just added the “Family” cuz before anything, that’s what I wanted it to be. Family. But I see Draft Pick as us being number 1. Not ballin on no court but at what we do. Music…
Yoh: Haha that’s dope story bro.You been rapping since 9th grade? You’ve been a artist for 4 years now?

Rizz 2
Rizz:Oh noooooo I met Leezy (LeVi) & joined forces with him in 9th grade! I been doing this since I was 10. I began my recording process when I was 14.
Yoh:Man that’s a pretty long time so it’s safe to say your invested in a career in hip-hop?
Rizz:Not only in hip-hop but philanthropy. Music is my dream but also my key to fulfilling my purpose. It’s a spiritual thing..
Yoh:Sounds pretty deep. Alright Rizz got a few more questions and it’s a wrap.
1. If you had to pick your favorite song recorded to date what would it be and why?
2. One place you would love to tour and why?
3. Since you’ve been writing at a very young age do you remember who introduced you to hiphop/music?
4. One artist you would love to work with?
5. What does success mean to Rizz Capolatti?
Rizz:1. Ummm.. My favorite song I’ve recorded to date…would be Welcome To My Foresight. Back when I was under “J.Rizzy”. It’s my favorite because I went in on the entire beat with like a 3 second break. Lol. The drive I had in my beginning stage was impeccable & the rawness of the record was like no other. It was truly a song written from my foresight. I think that song won everybody over. Sort of confirmation like say “yeaa..he got it”. I did my thing on there.
2. I would love to tour in Japan. I have always been a huge fan of their culture & advancements. They welcome our urban culture with open arms! I find that to be dope because they don’t even do that here in the states! Also just to experience being out of the country.
3. Yes. I remember exactly who introduced me to hip hop music! My big cousin B put me on everything when I was young. I lived in Atlanta & was so young, I never payed hip hop any attention. His mom is my mom’s sister so we would go visit them in South Carolina from time to time. Since he had just got his car, my aunt would always have him run errands for her. He was like the big brother I never had so anytime he went, I would be like “Oooo! Can I go?!” Lol. & I will never forget, this nigga had a backseat full of CD’s. Couldn’t fit shit back there ’cause it was too many CD’s. & riding with him, I would hear Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Nas, B.G., Jadakiss, Dipset & much more! & I fell in love with it all!
4. I would love to work with Andre 3000. He is truly my rapper role model. It’s the uniqueness about him. He’s cultured & very intelligent but ghetto as hell. Which is why I love listening to him. He is most def an artist I’d LOVE to work with. & we’re from the same city! He’s legendary man! First hip-hop act to win a Grammy?!!! Yea..kind of a big deal lol.
5. Success to Rizz Capolatti is progression. I feel as if you can never reach your full potential because it’s basically limitless. So anything giving me indication that I’m getting better or doors opening for me, that’s success. & reaching that level where me & my whole DP family are living our dreams together…that has to be euphoric.. That is what will make me feel like I’ve achieved it… My set means more to me than anything so to see us all do this together..that’s what will make me feel like I’ve achieved “success”..
Yoh:Well thank your sir all I need now is where the readers can access your music and any social network links you might have. Best of luck to you and looking forward to music in the future
