What do you get when you fuse Jesus,Goku, and the ability to spit mind blowing raps? If you don’t know let me be the first to introduce you to Sir EU The Great. I had the honor to interview a lyricist that talent is undeniable. We discuss his recently released mixtape FXCK,His influences,Kool Klux Klan, and much more. I highly recommend this young man music to any real hip-hop fan. Interview after the jump.
Yoh: First off I wanna thank you sir for taking the time out to talk with me. For all our readers that’s new to your movement give us some background on Sir EU? How long have you been a recording artist?
Sir EU: No problem, my brother. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to build with you. I’ve been recording music for about 4 years now, since my 10th grade year in high school.
Yoh: Four years quite a while. Now in 10th grade when you decided to do music did you expect it to be a life occupation or just a dream that you always wanted to pursue?
Sir Eu: I think it kicked in as the definite career choice when I realized I was actually okay at it. Lol, that, and me slowly but surely realizing that I probably wouldn’t enjoy my life doing anything else for a living; word to my disdain for the status quo and the supposed need for jobs to succeed and all that yadda yadda yadda. That definitely strengthened the passion for rapping, other than supreme love of music.
Yoh: #shoutout to your disdain haha. You have a vast vocabulary anyone that listens to your music knows this. Do you feel by not “dumbing down the lyrics” it’s harder to market yourself to a wider audience?
Sir EU: Thank you, yo. And I’m absolutely sure it’ll make the road to mass appeal steep as fuck, but I’ve never even been the type of person to be everyone’s favorite out of a group of people; cool with everyone or popular, but never like, the one consensus cool guy. I’m almost absolutely sure that shxt is going to manifest in my career. Two, I’m not even aiming for the widest audience, as backwards as that may sound coming from someone who wants to become an icon when he grows up. All of my favorite rappers and influences have cult followings, but aren’t quite the hugest of stars, I’ve come to grips with the fact that I may suffer the same fate. Haha.
Yoh: So who are a few of these influences, and what would you consider being a icon in hiphop since that’s something you strive to be?
Sir EU: Ah, influences of mine are most definitely MF DOOM, Blu, Jay Electronica, Big L, and Andre 3000, you can definitely hear little slivers of each of them in my music. I’d say an icon in hip-hop now is being as visually appealing as you are in audio form (this probably is a given, though). But the internet has completely taken over. You pair an ill image with good music, i.e Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Tyler, The Creator, or even Kreayshawn, and you’ll find icon potential. I wouldn’t say I’m striving to be an icon in the sense of working for an ill ass image, but just getting my whole “me” out there.

Yoh: Really dope response. So what can you tell us about your recently released mixtape FXCKand what should people expect when they download it?
Sir EU: FXCK is my debut as a gospel dubstep artist, it was executively produced by Chingy and Darkchild, and 13 out of the 19 tracks have a DMX feature. It was released under Arista Records. Twice. Sike nah to alla that, though. It’s a great tape, though, I’d say. I’ve got some personal shxt on it some fun shxt, along with a shxtload of lyricism. haha. I don’t think it’s the typical mixtape, though. Expect dope shxt, says the cliche response giver.
Yoh: Hahaha I agree the tape shouldn’t even be classified as Mixtape. It felt Original and definitely should be checked out. Now correct me if in wrong but your about of Klue Klux Klan? If so explain that movement and who’s all in it?
Sir EU: Thank you, sir. &Hahaha, yeah, I am a member of the Kool Klux Klan. It’s more of a movement/coalition as of now, in terms of everyone involved being the same type of people trying to get out there, a bunch of like-minded young artists who like doing shxt. The original members are myself, Avionadramida, CRASHprez (who’s tape drops May 29th) , rMell, Loui, CJ The Genesis, and King Hippo.
Yoh: Dope. You also go by king hippo? A very interesting nick name any back story behind it. Your also self proclaimed greatest human ever lol quite a bold statement?
Sir EU: I’m not even gonna lie, the Hippo nigga spits. I’ve never really fucked with him on a personal level. At all. He a bitch. He a ho. That nigga closes his eyes when he brushes his teef, b. The nigga was born in a marigold field, b. He is not my nigga. But yea, I became the greatest human alive when the big homie Jesus died and shxt (R.I.P to him). But yea. The title was bestowed upon me around 33 A.D. Wordlife. Niggas still be hatin’, though.
Yoh: Haha word word. Now in your music you reference anime alot which is slowly being accepted in hip hop, are you conscious of that and try to incorporate it purposely or is it something you been doing for a while?

Sir EU: Ah, haha I haven’t even noticed. I have noticed that I’m far from the only anime fan with talent, and that’s word to all the fam at Back2Pluto, who are really like the first blog to really co-sign me. There’s definitely low-key communities within rap that are anime-friendly. But nah, I’m faaaar from doing it for the trend or come-up value of it. I’m a huge Dragon Ball Z fan at heart, so it’s not that hard to let that interest of mine intertwine with my music. I’ve actually been trying to turn it down a bit, I’d never want to have my verses become predictable and have folk just waiting for the fuckin’ Master Roshi line or Mewtwo reference or something. Lol.
Yoh: Glad to see artist staying true to themselves when hip hop is slowly becoming like a trendy topic, whatever someone raps about to get on (weed) everyone follow suits. With the way hiphop is forever changing and evolving where do you see yourself in 5 years or where would you like to be?
Sir EU: With Chingy fuckin bitches
Yoh: Lmao shoutout to chingy wherever he might be. Now sir EU is from the Washington DC? How do you feel about the DMV music movement with artist like Wale?
Sir EU: I’m not exactly from D.C, but I’d definitely say I’m a product of the enviroment, I’ve been in DC just almost as much as I’ve been in Maryland, which is where I was raised and lived until last year when I moved to Virginia, so I pretty much claim all parts of the DMV. As far as the music scene, some of my best friends are local artists, but you can ask anyone here, it’s all crabs in a bucket. There’s a shxtload of talent here, it’s just that everyone’s kind of subjected to tending to starting your own snowball effect. The trap rappers aren’t great and rap has never been the dominant genre here, word to Wale, who was actually the artist who got me started after hearing his 100 Miles and Running mixtape. Even he didn’t start to be taken seriously on a wider scale until he made more major moves, once he got out and got something. It sucks. We all love it and hate it here. We don’t have many posterboys. I’d say our biggest names are Wale, Tabi Bonney, and Fat Trel. Nobody else has really made like a tangible splash outside of that. Loads of talent here, though. It’s all a matter of when we can all make a unified push towards getting the nation’s eyes on us.
Yoh: I see your point… So if you could have a posse cut with any rapper’s(atleast 3) dead or alive who would it be? And why?
Sir EU: Shawty Redd, Nas, Lil Flip, Murphy Lee &nem, Big Gipp, Craig Mack (R.I.P), Cory Gunz, and Ish from Digable Planets. I think it would be a nice lyrical balance of substance and positive energy.

Yoh: Word! Murphy Lee no Nelly? Ok sir got a few more questions and its a wrap
- You’ve been doing alot of shows lately, any specific song the crowd really seems to enjoy? Any outrageous/epic show stories?
- I saw a tweet about the clever structure of the song PreFix on FXCK will you explain that for our readers?
- Your favorite track off FXCK and why?
- Is trapping dead?
- What does success mean to Sir EU?
Sir EU:
Indeed, shoutsout to The CarryOut Productions on blessing me enough to perform consistently, yo. I think my most popular songs performance wise are Sippy Cup, Yuck Feah, Tenkaichi, and Members Only. I think the most memorable thing that’s ever happened at a show is when 9th Wonder showed up at our release party, which is probably the first time I’ve ever been starstruck.
Lol. I had actually performed PreFix that night. The second verse on that actually goes from A to Z in order, covering every letter. I think that may be the most favorited track on FXCK, too.
My favorite track on FXCK is between Gingivitis or CrookedToof; Mainly because those feel exactly how I felt when I wrote them. I wrote Gingivitis when I was mad as fuck and halfway through I felt better/the ego/pride kicked back in, and I started kinda showing off lyrically on the second half of it, which even has a more “fuck yall, haha” feel to it, lol. I don’t even like crookedtoof because of how evocative it is of what it’s about, but in terms of me getting a feeling out, I think that’s the best I’ve ever done, other than Shxthead, which I also hate. Haha. But like, I fucking cried and shxt midway through the second verse on it (I dare you to call me a bitch) and stumbled over some of the lyrics, not intentionally, but I think stumbling there was almost fitting, like borderline choking up over my words literally. That’s what puts it over the other songs on FXCK to me
Is trapping dead? Is Ethiopia a starving nation? I’m quite offended you would ask, with me being a pioneer in the revitalization of the lifestyle.
Success to me is feeling accomplished. Getting out my dreams to be corny, but basically feeling as though I’ve completed something, whatever it may be. Success for SiR E.U is probably being regarded as high as I feel I should be. Not like I think I’m fucking flawless, or am I close to being the best I can be, but having masses become aware of and agreeing with what I know of myself. And having an abundance of heauxs. Definitely Heauxs.
Yoh: I wanna thank you Sir E.U The Great again for sitting down with me,and i recommend anyone that likes lyrical, clever, and just overall good music to check him out. Go ahead and pitch your twitter, facebook, and any other ways fans can reach you,and your music.
