Above you see a small exert from my interview with rapper Harlem Cash. Ambitious, focused, and hardworking without a doubt he will be a artist to keep a eye on. After the jump you can read the entire interview, we discuss his The Whole Thing EP,being supported by the blogs, and up coming projects. Also be sure to check out The Whole Thing EP if you haven’t already
HARLEM’S CASH – THE WHOLE THING EP
Yoh: First off I wanna thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview. For the readers not familiar with you, and your music can you give us a little background on Harlem Cash?
HCash: Let me tell it I’m just a nigga from 8th Ave in Harlem NYC who was blessed with the talent and chance to use my voice to speak for those who live life like me but strive for more. for the past couple of years Ive been putting out mix tapes and content using the Internet as my distributor to reach the masses being I’m not signed to a major. Recently i released what to me is my first real project “The Whole Thing”. I consider this project my first real one because everything else to date has been freestyle mix tapes where i just go in and spit. With this one i really took my time and told my story without holding back or exaggerating to make my life seem like a grand event. i consider myself to be a regular nigga like my listeners.
Yoh: Word. Who are a few of your biggest inferences? And how important is representing New York/ Harlem 8th Ave to you?
HCash:im influenced more by everyday life than a another artist honestly. the things im involved in and the things i see around me influence my music, thats why its so important that i always rep 8th Ave because, 8th isnt that different than your average hood anywhere around the world. we have fun and bug out, we witness foul shit, we struggle to survive, but we survive! and i believe if i get that out there enough the people will see that i am speaking for them being where im from is just like where their from. To me saying 8th Ave is like shouting out your hood for you
Yoh:Don’t see how anyone couldn’t relate to a real dude speaking real ish. Since you consider “The Whole Thing” as your first real project for people that haven’t downloaded it yet what do you feel will set it apart from all the music being release right now.
HCash:My story is unique in today music, nothing is off limits with me. I tell my story open hearted because i know people can relate. From issues with my baby mother as I’m trying to be a good father, to my mom putting up a front for family and friends knowing I’m doing nonsense in the street because she is ashamed of what they will think , these are things that everybody goes through on a day to day basis. I just try to be as honest as possible because i know I’m speaking for people like myself who don’t have the voice i do to vent. its also therapeutic to get these feeling off my chest as well. i cant call my niggas up and pour my heart out cause that’s not what we do as men with pride and all that shit we carrying around with us, so my music is my way to release the pressures and demons that haunt me
Yoh: I can’t stress enough how hiphop needs not only realness, but honesty, and anyone that put there’s lives on wax for the world to see gets my upmost respect. Any particular record on whole thing you would consider your favorite or a most defiant stand out?
HCash: I Recently listened to “The Whole Thing” and i cant tell you whats a stand out to me because every time i hear it i zone out to something different. “Talking Down” is a solid joint that the production alone gets me nodding, “MailBox” as well, but as of today though “Love Affair” Ft IFFY is my shit!!! from the production to the lyrics to the chorus everything just blended so well. all and all its a dope project though.

Yoh: I agree the project is most very solid. Personally,We See always been crazy dope & Later Goodbye with Outasight (he murdered the hook) is crazy. So what’s next for Harlem Cash planning any tours for “The Whole Thing”? Or even working on a new project?
HCash: Currently working on the follow up to “The Whole Thing” Titled “Chill Don’t Pay The Bills” which will pick up where i left off on my last project but this will be my most successful to date and will get me to where i need to be. “The Whole Thing” was basically a warm up and this release will be the big game where i pull out the moves I’ve been practicing by myself in the park night after night. I’m looking for a summer release of that as well as shows across the east coast, i will be announcing dates soon. I’m trying to make this process as personal as possible so i can find out who are my true fans and cater to them so the venues wont be that large at first. while all that is getting set up though look forward to visuals off “The Whole Thing” which are about to be liberated for the people.
Yoh: Looking forward to all that. Unlike alot of artist on the come up you have a very strong blog following from 2DopeBoyz to NahRight, ect ,along with social media does it make it easier to connect to fans and build a following or does it put more pressure on you to release music for the masses
HCash: Honestly the post mean nothing but that the bloggers support you. that doesn’t mean the people fuck with you at all. you can get post on a big blog but what if no one clicks on that post? i found after i put out CASHifornication and chilled for awhile the people lost interest cause i took to long to produce another project and everyday there is another artist coming out to take your spot. Its been kind of hard to garner that same excitement again with the fans but slowly but surely it is getting there. twitter has been a big help in connecting with my core and finding out exactly who and where those people come from that support me. i understand that nothing comes easy and the pay off will be far greater than the grind so for me its a challenge I’m willing to take on.
Yoh: #Respect. You made alot of valid points new artist emerge everyday so just keeping fan attention is a struggle in it’s own. Just a few more questions and we can wrap this up

1. If you wasn’t doing music full time and you had your choice of any occupation what would it be and why?
2. The one place in the world that you would love to perform and why?
3. Any plans to re start the live from the corner series?
4. If Harlam cash could have one super power what would it be
5 What does success mean to you?
HCash:
1. If you wasn’t doing music full time and you had your choice of any occupation what would it be and why? i think i would be involved in entertainment somehow some way. probably pushing somebody else to live out their dreams, i never been big on the conventional job thing.
5 What does success mean to you? being happy within your self is success. not the money and material things that come from success, being happy within ones self will lead you down a path to riches
Yoh: Alright man that’s a wrap all I need know is links to wear people can download your music and reach you via social networking. Been a pleasure and I wish you much success in the future, looking forward to Chills Don’t Pay Bills.
HCash: i appreciate the oppurtunity and make sure to follow me on twitter @HarlemsCash and check out www.itmehc.com from time to time for new content and news!!!!
