We discuss his up & coming projects,The Usual Suspects(TUS),His exclusive tee shirts with Ooloo, and much much more. Read the entire interview after the jump
Yoh: First off, wanna thank you for taking the time to speak with me. For people unfamiliar with Chuuwee can you give us some background on you & your music?
Chuuwee: I appreciate the interest in me man. My name is Chuuwee from the south side of Sacramento,CA my music best described for strangers would be raw rap no gimmick. my theme is straight up style and lyricism.
Yoh: One thing I noticed about you is your insane work ethic, you have a large number of mixtape,EP’s,collaboration tapes all over the net. If you had to pick one tape to be your introduction For new listeners which one would you pick and why?
Chuuwee:I’d probably pick my Sunday Afternoon mixtape or Hot N Ready. Both of those tapes showcase my wide range of lyrical skill and rhyme pattern.
Yoh: The Sunday afternoon Concept is mad dope would highly recommend that. With the west coast putting out alot of great music lately do you feel the pressure from your peers to step it up lyrically, concept wise, ect?
Chuuwee: Honestly i pride myself in not caring about anyone other than my team. I see everyone i respect everyones grind but no one works like me or my team so i feel like competition dosent matter. theres alot of dope cats coming out and wack cats. i feel like every 10 mins theres a new guy on the blogs so for those 10 mins that you worry about the next guy your missing moves.
Yoh:You have some very valid points. When you speak of your team that’s TUS(The Usual Suspects)? How exactly did you get involved in that movement?
Chuuwee:TUS started about 3 years ago. Myself J.Good and Tone Da Underdog were all working together we went to the same high school, and at the time we were heavily inspired by a crew from sac”Neighborhood Watch” which C-Plus was once apart of. We wanted an element of dope emcees working as a team like they had and being we were new on the scene we never really got much respect so we formed The Usual Suspects and got on the grind.
Yoh:Can we expect a TUS project sometime this year?
Chuuwee: Maybe not this year but you can definitely expect something soon we been doing alot of work but schedules conflict. we do drop a valentines tape every year tho.
Yoh: Word? Dope. You yourself have alot of tentative projects so imma name a few and just give us any possible information.Be cool With Jonathan Lowell?

Chuuwee: Be Cool is in the works of releasing. What with my label situation im not allowed to release projects till Decemeber and im not really feelin that at all so im kind of just gonna be rebellious and release it through my soundcloud. The cover art is finally ready and the projects been done for a while now.
Yoh: December, that’s not even reasonable. Really looking forward to be cool, With the tracks that’s been released you and Lowell styles mesh well. Fever hunt with Lee Bannon?

Chuuwee: Fever Hunt is produced entirely by Lee Bannon set to release december this year on Duck Down records but im just as unknowing as the fans are about that. i have no info what so ever.
Yoh: Duck Down might get some hate mail after this interview. Grown Man Sport with Cookin Soul?

Chuuwee: haha nah its all politics between my folks and them they haven’t done anything wrong. Grown Man Sport is stil under works but the next single might be releasing soon. We got a joint with Willie The Kidd Thats gonna shake the whole internet.
Yoh:Word? Chuuwee x Willie The Kidd sounds like a iLL combination. Lets switch it up, how did you and Ooloo get together to make the exclusive chuulien tees?

Chuuwee: Man i dont even remember how we first linked but they been very supportive and helped me alot the past year. The owner Byron pitched me the idea and i shot him my logo and we went from there.
Yoh:Now that’s dope shout outs to Ooloo. So there’s no future plans to get into fashion for Chuuwee?
Chuuwee: Actually im working on alot of crazy shit with the homies Eighteen Fifties out of San Diego yall gotta wait on that though.
Yoh: Homie you work with everyone haha that’s a good look though. I think you were the first artist(correct me if I wrong) to have a song in tribute to the late great Gil Scott Heron. What kind of influence did he have on you?
Chuuwee: I wont lie im not a crazy Gil Scott fanatic. He in my eyes is one of the very first true Emcees in that his words did more than make people bob their heads. Im very familiar with his work but the reason we called the track a tribute was because the day he passed we were working on that track. The beat was made well long ago and it samples words of Gil Scott from ‘We Beg Your Pardon”. Shortly after finishing the song i log on to 2dopeboyz and see that he passed away so it was only right to pay the man respect. Hence why people need not talk shit about that song saying all that”Im Riding his name for fame” bullshit.

Yoh:
Chuuwee: I really wanna tour Europe im in Love with London,England and the UK and they really appreciate music for its worth.
My dream collab right now would be me and Jigga over a Ski Beat because i feel like the west coast reasonable doubt jayz at times and that’d just be nuts.
Im a gamer to the max whenever im free im on the ps3 the last good game i had was Fallout:New Vegas im a big fallout fan.
I have talked to 9th Wonder on twitter and once on the phone so something might be in the works yall will see haha. Big big ups to the Jamla Army as well
Success to me means doing whatever you set your mind to and being able to continue doing it your way. dont let anyone tell you you cant do anything and dont let nobody tell you how to do it. Intake all game given but build your own and stand up for it no matter what.
Yoh: Alright man thetapedeck will like to once again thank you. All we need know is your social network information and where fans can peep your music. Future looks bright and we wish you much success with all endeavors
Chuuwee: You can peep all my stuff at
